Happy New Year! The start of a new year is a time for celebration, reflection, and a time to maybe set a few goals or two. If one of your goals for this year is to read more diverse books, this list of twenty-five books publishing in January is just what you need!

January came out swinging with dozens of beautiful new children's books headed our way. There are books that represent a variety of communities and cultures. Lift Every Voice and Change, a new sound book from author Charnaie Gordon will literally speak to its readers! The picture book includes sound clips of the actual voices of the Black leaders featured in the book. Little Golden Book has partnered with Ebony Jr. on a mission to ignite a love of reading with a new series of books, including two that publish this month, Harry Belafonte: A Little Golden Book Biography and Beyoncé: A Little Golden Book Biography.


This resource list is a labor of love that includes publisher's descriptions along with links for more information. Publishing dates may change for a variety of reasons. These books were submitted to us by publishers, authors, and the Helping Kids Rise community.
