BOOK DRIVE TO GET DIVERSE BOOKS INTO MORE HANDS
Helping Kids Rise promotes literacy, education, and social justice awareness through diverse children's books, positive images, and resources for parents and educators. Studies show that a child's ability to read at grade level by the end of the 4th grade, is a major indicator of future success - in school and in life. One way to get kids excited about reading is to give them access to books they can connect with. However lack of access to quality books is a barrier for many families. We want to change that.
In an effort to get quality books with positive representation into the hands of more children, we're building a free book library for families in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
The library materials and services to build the free library have been pledged by gracious community members. At this time, we're seeking quality books to fill the library with. Our goal is to have the library complete by Summer 2022 for families to visit while children are out of school.
