Book Review: Circle Unbroken
Circle Unbroken by Margot Theis Raven is a book of beauty and wonder. A grandmother teaches her granddaughter the African art of sweetgrass basketmaking. As the grandmother teaches the craft, she also shares the story of her ancestors in Africa as far back as the grandmother's grandfather.
Even after being kidnapped from his homeland of Africa, the grandfather held onto traditions and customs and was sure to pass those things along. Circle Unbroken is a great reminder of the importance of passing on our knowledge to those who come after us.
People of all ages will enjoy this book's beautiful story and pictures. People interested in learning about the Gullah Geechee people who live along the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor, will find this book a great compliment to their studies.
Watch: The Gullah Geechee in SC still make this beautiful African art today
