Lift Off | An Empowering Education Message for Everyone
Helping students find their voice, questioning the keepers of the keys, and inspiring educators to wake every child up to "their celestial potential", that's what recent Harvard Grad Donovan Livingston is asking of us in the gripping and though-provoking poem.
Donovan mentions a 7th grade teacher who pushed him to use his voice to change his world. That's what we must all do for ourselves and everyone around us -Be inspired and inspire others to use our voices to question things and create positive change.
This is a universal message that can be embraced by those who are educators by profession and those who are educators in everyday life; such as parents. Embracing this empowering message could truly change the face of education, the future of our communities, society, and world.
Here's an Excerpt from the Donovan Livingston's poem:
“Education is no equalizer — Rather, it is the sleep that precedes the American Dream. So wake up — wake up! Lift your voices Until you’ve patched every hole in a child’s broken sky. Wake up every child so they know of their celestial potential. I’ve been a black hole in the classroom for far too long; Absorbing everything, without allowing my light escape. But those days are done. I belong among the stars. And so do you. And so do they. Together, we can inspire galaxies of greatness For generations to come. No, sky is not the limit. It is only the beginning. Lift off.”
